Well winter is just made for us crocheters and knitters and yarnivores right? I’ll crochet right throughout the year, every day every season, but oh the joy of a warm, snuggly and growing blanket on your lap that you’re working on
in front of the telly on a dark winter night…..
I learnt to crochet seven years go – self-taught (thank you Bella Coco Crochet video tutorials!). I’m a left hander and was always a bit rubbish at knitting – it ends up looking like a child did it – but I somehow learnt to crochet righthanded and found it instantly easy! And my work it’s pretty neat, if I do say so myself.
My go-to favourite things to crochet are blankets – they are a lovely long term project, they are crowd pleasers and they always fit no matter how many mince pies you ate last month! I have a few favourite crochet designers and I’ve made many of their blankets.
I’m currently hooking up Attic24’s Sungold Blanket which is running as a CAL (crochet-along) on her website. It’s a lovely colourful stripy blanket with an easy repeat pattern. My best friend C in Dublin is also making one at the same time and this is the joy of a CAL, you join a community of fellow yarnies.
And of course you can buy the Stylecraft Special DK yarn that you need to make this gorgeous blanket in Bourton Yarn Basket!
